Roadmap to the Mobility of Tomorrow

With more than 30 years of research experience in alternative steering technologies, Race-by-Wire GmbH pursues a clear vision under the leadership of Prof. Lutz Eckstein, Klaus Graf, and Hubert Hügle: to revolutionize vehicle control through innovative drive-by-wire and steer-by-wire systems.

Our roadmap outlines the journey from technological pioneering to series-ready solutions, shaping the foundation for the mobility of tomorrow.

Phase 1 – Research and Fundamental Development (2022–2026)

Building on decades of scientific expertise, the core technologies for highly precise and secure by-wire systems are developed.

During this phase, a modular system architecture with redundant safety mechanisms is established. Active Stick Control is developed as a new interface between driver and vehicle, while extensive validation is carried out through intensive testing in racing and laboratory environments. Close cooperation with research institutions and technology partners further strengthens technological development and system reliability.

2. Phase – Prototyping & Integration
(2026–2028)

During this phase, technological innovations are transferred into functional prototypes and real-world driving tests to demonstrate their practical viability.

Initial demonstrator vehicles with fully integrated Race-by-Wire control systems are developed and integrated into existing vehicle platforms for real-world evaluation. At the same time, Human–Machine Interface and vehicle dynamics control systems are further advanced for autonomous and assisted driving. Strategic partnerships with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers are established to accelerate validation and market readiness.

Phase 3 – Industrialization and Market Introduction (From 2028-2030)

Race-by-Wire establishes itself as a technology leader in by-wire systems and drives the transition toward series production.

During this phase, the systems are certified according to automotive safety standards, including ISO 26262 and ASIL-D, ensuring the highest levels of functional safety. Preparations are made for deployment in premium and performance vehicles, while production capacity is scaled and international partnerships are expanded. At the same time, the brand is positioned as a synonym for precision, safety, and the future of vehicle control.
